It's funny...

We were reminded about how well this music works live this past weekend at Calvary. It was supposed to be a straight worship leading gig, but the message was on parenting. The funny thing was that I actually went through about 4-5 other tunes with the staff person there before I realized that Wake Us was like.. perfect.

So, to complicate things, they were having trouble finding a bass player, like she had worked her list and so had I and we were still short. Literally the afternoon of the weeknight practice, I said... "Well... I play a little bass..."

...and all of a sudden, Erica, raspy voice and all, was now also playing the piano, both for worship and that song. I was literally teaching her the opening piano line about 15 minutes before the practice was starting.

But... she did great, and the message TOTALLY set us up to win, and we sold like a grand worth of What it Is, which felt GREAT.

You're right though... this record is better. We're very excited.

Prayers for you two. I just talked to an old friend in NJ two nights ago and he reminded me how good the first project was. I actually like this one better. Having said that, enjoy yourselves, and take heart in the fact that the guy you asked to play guitar is one of your biggest fans.
